Wind in the Willows, wheelchair access

Wind in the Willows has a unique setting, 3 acres bordered by the River Misbourne on one side and its millstream on the other. This once had a commercial watercress bed meandering through it creating an island of mature woods, now a woodland garden. This is approached from the more formal garden area around the house by way of the “Monet” style bridge. Beyond the woodland is another bridge which leads to the wild garden. Marginals line the rivers and the garden contains hundreds of shrubs and trees, many uncommon or variegated, under planted with damp/shade loving plants. Rhododendrons, camellias, magnolias, tree peonies, early iris, candelabra primula, should all be in flower.

11 Lower Road, Limited wheelchair access

Owned by a master composter, this delightful small garden retreat has trees, shrubs, grasses, climbers and colourful borders mixed with vegetables. It sweeps down to a small river, wildlife haven, and beautiful open countryside views. Osteoporosis friendly, raised beds are contained by low wide walls which can be sat on to plant and weed or to stand on to prune and deadhead. Slopes replace steps. Paths and patios edge the lawns to enable circular continuous mowing avoiding turning and shearing.

19 Lower Road, Limited wheelchair access

A garden with all year round interest, hardy plants to provide cutting material and food for birds, perennial bulbs and self-seeding annuals. The back garden is planted in harmony with nature and the surrounding countryside. This garden is an on-going project.

19 Middle Road - New Garden! Limited wheelchair access

A garden crowded with as many plants as possible and planted pots with a terrace over looking the ornamental pond and clematis covered arches. Mixed flowerbeds with grasses and fruit bushes.

From the M4 junction 4B merge onto M25 clockwise and exit after one junction (16) onto M40 EAST and then exit at junction 1 towards Slough/A412/Uxbridge. At the first exit onto A40 Oxford Road. Turn right at the traffic lights into Denham Avenue. After quarter mile turn left at part time traffic lights into Old Rectory Lane. After 1 mile turn left into Lower Denham Road Higher Denham.

Shillong, Limited wheelchair access

Long garden separated into different ‘rooms’. Owned by a plantaholic, this lovely garden comes with a riot of different plants, colours and many interesting features.

From A40 take A412 Denham Avenue. Take first right into Village Road, and first right into Cheapside Lane. Shillong will be found on the right hand side.

Sunday 22nd May
